Nancy O'Dell started her career in the broadcast industry as reporter for WPDE-TV, Myrtle Beach South Carolina. In the following years, she worked as a morning news anchor and crime reporter for WCBD-TV. O'Dell's reports in Charleston about the police's leniency regarding DUI cases led to a State Law Enforcement Division to look into the matter. This led to states authorities enforcing more rigorous regulations in these cases. Ms. O'Dell was awarded the Best Report of the Media Award in South Carolina by the Associated Press. O'Dell then worked for the Miami-based NBC station WTVJ-TV as an investigative reporter and anchor, prior to her joining Access Hollywood in the role as a weekend anchor. Her current position as host for Access Hollywood is complemented by the work she has done for NBC News Today, Dateline NBC, and NBC News. She was a reporter for events like The Oscars, The Emmys, The Grammys, and The Golden Globe Awards. Alongside co-hosting the Pre-ShowArrivals for The Emmys & The Golden Globes.
